You can improve your pagerank by getting good quality links from higher page rank sites. I have a website that hasonly 6 backlinks and is pr 3. So the quality of backlinks matter alot. Dont just build like 200 links which do not pass a page rank that will not at all help in getting good ranking or pagerank.
