What is PageRank?

This may be too embarrassing to say, but I really have to say it. I don't know how PageRank actually works and how I can improve my site's PageRank. Anyone who is kind enough to educate or at least share some tips to me? I would appreciate it.

It is how important your site is to google on a scale of 0 to 10. 0 being the worst, and 10 being the most important.

Use google toolbar to view PR of all sites you view.

Note: Pagerank has nothing to do with google ranking.

You can improve your pagerank by getting good quality links from higher page rank sites. I have a website that hasonly 6 backlinks and is pr 3. So the quality of backlinks matter alot. Dont just build like 200 links which do not pass a page rank that will not at all help in getting good ranking or pagerank.
